What an exciting trip you have planned. I rode my bicycle across America in 1998 when I was 58 years old so I'm sure your trip won't be as physically grueling as mine but challenging nonetheless.
I'll be following along via the Internet and in spirit.....Sandy Mason
It's crazy and cool that you're willing to do this to raise awareness and money for the kids. You guys are studs! I am curious, though--how do you longboard up a mountain range? :) Bless you guys! ~Kathy D. (Reynolds)
The Team arrived in San Diego about 9pm, after hugs all around; they promptly proceeded through our house back to the pool and all jumped in! Needless to say the pool is not heated – they were exhausted but in very high spirits! They all will spend the day unpacking, inventorying what they brought, what they need and go shopping. Tomorrow morning the Team will meet at Sector9 Skateboarding Company to go through the warehouse ‘shopping’ for what they need – complements of EG and SECTOR9! Then on to the Boys & Girls Club in Clairemont. Sector9 will have the company bus at the Take Off event starting at 4 pm along with all the other activities. The Teams first stop was Rose Elementary where they made wonderful friends with all the kids at the assembly for Longboarding America, media interviews and onto the Umpqua Boys & Girls Club where the kids at the B&G Club presented them with a $150 donation! Go Umpqua B&G! After wards Ben’s Aunt Julia Henry took them to lunch and they spent the afternoon at the skate park talking to kids. This has not been without bumps, they had an accident in Albany, someone tried to pass them on the right on the freeway and hit their trailer. The camp trailer is totaled but they were able to take it to Ben’s uncle in Creswell where it remains while insurances figure out what to do. This did put a huge cloud over the trip to start – BUT, things are looking up and they now have a tent trailer to use for the trip, there were no injuries and the Longboardingamerica van is fine. Keep all your prayers coming – they will need each and every one!
